Here is a simple suggestion. Most people have door mats for people to dry their wet boots and shoes. This is an essential commodity but not always enough to keep the floors clean. Why not provide slippers for your family and guests? This will keep down any residual salt and mud from getting tracked in. Slippers are also a comforting change of pace in shifting from outside to inside.
