Carpet cleaning is not a service I provide but there are companies that do provide eco-friendly carpet cleaning. Some, like "Zero Rez" use de-ionized water, an effective cleaner that doesn't require chemicals. Another local green carpet cleaning company, which offers a choice of steam extraction or a dual process method, both of which are supposed to be residue free, is Green Clean Care (www.greencleancare.com).

This is the perfect tool for most enamel stove tops. It gets the baked on crud that forms rings around the burners that we just assume after awhile are permanent. Steel wool soap pads! Start gently until you get some confidence in it. I haven't had it scratch yet.
Fabric lampshades can be tricky to dust not only because dust clings to the surface but because they are often delicate and easily damaged. Vacuuming with a soft-bristle brush is effective and generally safe if you do it gently. Another way to do it is with a microfiber cloth, again gently.
Here is a great idea for cleaning your blender without taking all the moving pieces, including the sharp blades, out. Put some warm water, baking soda, and dish soap in it and push pulse a few times. A good labor-saving technique.
