1) Take those books off the shelves and dust the tops as well as the shelves behind where they sit.
2) Dust your vents.
3) Dust the tops of your ceiling fan's blades.
Didn't that feel good?

Spring is finally here! A great time to spruce up your home. Here are some dust collectors that probably could use a cleaning.

It was a dark night on the Hennepin Strip sitting in my office with the rent three months overdue when the phone rang. It was a distressed homeowner who had a tub with some kind of mineral deposit all over the surface.."I've tried everything," she cried. "I even called the company that made the clay body lotion that I use in the tub."
I made my way over with my kit for difficult tubs. This one was no piece of cake. A hard water problem had left a calcium deposit as thick as a Brooklyn accent after an all night bender. To make a long story short, 18% phosphoric solution sitting for 15 minutes and then 2 hours of elbow grease with a pumice stone left the tub looking like new. I'm a nontoxic kind of guy, but every so often a real doozy of a problem needs to meet the meaner stuff. The baked-on spots on stove tops are a particular cleaning problem--the brown ones and even moreso, the black ones. But here's an easy solution. A dampened soap pad (Brillo, SOS) will get those spots and, on most surfaces, won't scratch the paint or metal parts. Be sure to test in an inconspicuous area first. It really is spring even though it's snowing out as I write this. Here's a spring cleaning tip. When you clean all your windows (of course you will!) you can clean the screens too. Take a scrap of carpet and use it as a brush. That should do the trick. https://www.hgtv.com/design/decorating/clean-and-organize/7-spring-cleaning-tips
